First Aid (HLTFA301B)

Impact First Aid Training give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to provide a first aid response, life support and the management of a casualty(s) at an incident until the arrival of medical assistance. This course was previously known as Senior First Aid which is the advised minimum requirement by WorkCover NSW for workplace first aiders.

First Aid Course for a limited time $120 (usually $140)

1 day + completion of pre-course booklet/questions
You will receive the manual and workbook at course registration which needs to be completed prior to the one day practical face to face training.

Course Content

This 1 day course is delivered by Impact Training which is a NSW VETAB Registered Training Organisation ensuring the statement of attainments are nationally recognised and is approved by WorkCover NSW (approval no. FA9430) and follows the policies of the Australian Resuscitation Council for the unit HLTFA301B Apply First Aid which incorporates the units HLTCPR201A Perform CPR and HLTFA201A Provide Basic Emergency Life Support.

The course covers both theory and practical topics which include:

  • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Head, chest and spinal injuries
  • Fainting and unconsciousness
  • Poisoning, bites, stings plus much more
  • Fractures and dislocations
  • Burns and scalds
  • Bandaging techniques
  • Severed limbs

Course Purpose

The flexible learning approach of this first aid course allows you to complete the theory at your own pace. The practical day is then used to focus on learning and practicing first aid skills such as CPR and bandaging. The overall aim is to provide you with the knowledge and confidence to provide first aid in an emergency.

Pre-requisites

There are no pre-requisites for this competency unit. Students must be at least 14 years of age and can be enrolled by a parent/ guardian to attend.

Assessment

Impact Training offers a hands on approach with progressive assessments throughout the course including multiple choice questions, practical CPR and bandaging scenarios. This is competency based training, so we will ensure that you have a thorough understanding of basic first aid before you go home.

Award

On successful completion of this Nationally Recognised qualification, you will receive a Statement of Attainment in HLTFA301B Apply First Aid which incorporates HLTCPR201A Perform CPR and HLTFA201A Provide Basic Emergency Life Support which is valid for 3 years. As per the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines the HLTCPR201A Perform CPR unit is required to be updated every 12 months.

One form of photo ID will be required to be shown on the day of the course. Suitable ID includes a Drivers Licence, Passport, NSW RTA photo ID card or Birth Card.
