Diploma of Security and Risk Management (CPP50611)

Course overview

The aim of this course is to develop a student’s competence in risk management and risk assessment with a specific focus on security related risk. Topics’ include asset identification, threat assessment, consequence analysis and risk management planning. The qualification also includes extensive understanding of staff management and business skills.

This is the highest Nationally Recognised qualification in the Security and Risk Management field and is a comprehensive training program designed to assist security professionals establish the essential skills and knowledge necessary to evaluate security vulnerability and risk, as well as develop cost effective security countermeasures for organisations or clients in the areas of retail, hospitality, financial, healthcare, aviation and government areas.

Designed For

This course is designed for those wishing to increase their knowledge in the security industry, build upon the Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management (CPP40707 or PRS40103), those working as security consultancy and generally those which are employed as National Security Operation Managers or Security company owners.

Whilst the primary focus of the Diploma of Security & Risk Management qualification is relevant to people responsible for security and assessment of security related risk, the process, skills and knowledge acquired are readily transferable to all business activities across various industries.

Note: To be issued a NSW Security Licence 2A - Security Consultant, using the Diploma of Security and Risk Management CPP50611/PRS50103 you must have been in the security industry or equivalent for two (2) years.

An Impact Course advisor will be able to provide advice on the best combination of modules to achieve the desired learning outcome based on a discussion with you at enrolment. Five electives need to be chosen but only one level four unit can be chosen.

Delivery Modes

Whilst there are no formal prerequisites to undertake the course it is usually those employed in the Security Industry at a Supervisory level or have access to a relevant work environment and have obtained a Certificate II in Security Operations that complete this course. An acceptable reading and comprehension ability is required.

You must be able to produce a current NSW Security License or have a NSW Security Industry Registry “Pre-Training Criminal Record Check” clearance prior to commencing the course.

Course Duration

The program if required to be completed without any RPL is by way of blended learning of approximately 565 nominal hours duration which consists of 3 consecutive full days per month over 6 months (18 full days).

The hours listed are a guide only and may be used to estimate the time required to complete the program of study and includes, time on activities, research and work on projects etc. A study plan is supplied for your guidance. However, students can complete the qualification with Impact in less time.

Assessment

The primary form of assessment for this qualification will be Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) or Recognition of Current Competence (RCC). You will be required to complete a self assessment and participate in a interview to establish the extent of your existing knowledge and skills which will then be used to identify the units that you will be eligible to claim for RPL. This will also establish the amount of gap training that you will require and will be used to develop your unique training plan. The assessment includes a portofolio of evidence and workplace assessments.

Commencement Date

Commence at any time during the year. You will be required to go to Impact's Course Registration page and download the Course Registration form and complete and return it together with your fee to Impact Training Services.

Course Fee

Price on Application for both the course or undertaking the RPL assessment process. Any additional modules that are required to be completed to gain certification will be charged in addition to the RPL fee.

Past Experiences Count

If you have had over 5 years experience in the security industry together with consulting and management experience, you should consider the RPL process by undertaking a self assessment against the competency standards of the course. Assessment is via a detailed portfolio of evidence, workbook questions and written scenarios to support your claim. Further information about the RPL process will be explained prior to enrolment with any of our assessors. Where you or a Impact assessor identify the need for further training you may choose to do this through the completion of individual modules (at an additional fee).
